About this work
In this series the green is being present. It is the layers of small things in a day that disappear if you stop paying attention. The brown is addiction, and it cuts into the green with hard edges that you cannot help noticing.
The green field is book matched, which means two sheets of veneer opened against each other like a page, so the figure mirrors itself down the centre and your eye keeps finding a symmetry that turns out not to be exact. At 40 by 52 cm it is the smallest piece in the series.
There is a knot in every piece in this series, and it stands for the Gordian knot, because seeing a problem clearly is not the same thing as solving it, and sometimes the only way out is to cut.

Studio letter
New work, before it goes public
A few times a year I send out new pieces before anyone else sees them, along with exhibition dates and the occasional note from the workbench. Nothing more often than that, and you can leave whenever you like.
